The surge in interest for both tourists and property owners has been influenced recently by the hype around the FIFA World Cup 2010. Many industry experts also attribute the recent shift in change and surge in interest to a US president of African heritage.

Whatever the reasons, South Africa tourism is definitely on the up with a flood of tourists expected over the next couple of months.

At the latter part of last year, industry experts were concerned that we would see in June / July an initial over-supply in the short terms rental market and an under supply in long term properties available. There is still a nervousness concerning the amount of properties that will become available for long-term lets in South Africa, after the World Cup is over. Industry experts are predicting that many South Africa accomodation owners will be disappointed and will have to sit tight for a long-term tenant due to the expected over-supply to the market when the soccer fans have left.
